What is Federal Work Study?
The Federal Work-Study program provides jobs for undergraduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay for college expenses. Work-Study jobs may be related to community service, a field of study, or university operations.
The Work-Study program varies from college to college – in terms of available jobs, wages, and proximity of jobs to campus. If a college participates in the Federal Work-Study program and you qualify, you’ll be awarded a Work-Study amount of financial aid along with your other forms of aid. You can only earn up to the amount you are awarded through a Work-Study job.
Keep in mind that you can always take a job that is not in Federal Work-Study. Some students do this because they need to earn more than their Work-Study award. There are typically many part-time jobs available on a college campus. You just need to find one that fits.
