Considering Associate Degree Programs?

An associate degree represents the first two years of study towards a bachelor’s degree, but that doesn’t mean it has to take two years to complete.  You can take classes for an associate degree online or at a campus, and schedule your education around the busy life you already lead, earning an associate degree in less than two years.

It also doesn’t mean that you have to commit to a bachelor’s degree.  An associate degree will provide you with many skills and general knowledge that can help you advance in your career or help you switch to another career.  You don’t have to stay in school any longer than you want to.

You can earn an associate degree at almost any accredited school: community colleges, junior colleges, business colleges or even traditional four-year universities and colleges.  And it is a great way to quickly and cheaply continue your education.

Types of Associate Degree Programs Available

There are a number of different associate degree programs available to you depending on what it is you want to study or what career you are hoping to go into.  The name doesn’t matter as much as the education it implies.

The most common types of associate degrees, though, are the Associate of Science (A.S.); the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), which is normally professionally focused on something like electronics or mechanics; and the Associate of Arts (A.A.).
