Dree Lynn

What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite part about my job is making the students feel seen and making the schools we work with feel heard. There’s often a disconnect between the two and I am thankful to be in a position to help bridge that gap so everyone feels a little lighter at the end of the day.

What advice would you give someone thinking about going back to school? A lot of the time we see students put mental roadblocks where there aren’t any in reality and they will talk themselves out of pursuing their education based off of perception. A degree is always possible. Don’t talk yourself out of being great. Come talk to us instead.

Why is education important? Education is one of the very few things in life that can’t be taken away from you. You know what you know.

If you could meet any person, who would you choose and why? George RR Martin because I want to ask him face to face what’s going on with Winds of Winter!

What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite part of my job is showing people that their educational goals can be met. People place limitations on themselves and do not recognize how strong they are. I love seeing our students finish the admissions process, finish the financial aid process, and register for classes. Witnessing students overcome their fears is the highlight of my work!

What motivates you? Besides helping working adults obtain a post-secondary degree, my biggest motivation is my children: Layla, Bryshere, and A’zuria Holmes. My little ones push me to be a better man, and they remind me that anyone can be easily inspired with positive affirmations and constant support.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about going back to school? “People fear what they do not understand and hate what they cannot conquer.” – Nasir Jones

Fear is false evidence that appears real. Do not give up on your goals and continue to push forward. You are good enough! You are strong enough! Enjoy the journey, and do not let doubt and fear rule your educational realm!

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Ramen: You can season it with a wide variety of flavors, so you won’t be eating the same thing over and over again.

What is your favorite thing about your job? I enjoy connecting with people on a personal level, which helps me understand where they want to be on a professional level. Both aspects are deeply intertwined.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about going back to school? To be intentional about it. It is essential to know that it will take you to a better place and that the result is based on what your soul needs to perform a job to the best of its ability.

Why is education important? Educating ourselves helps us connect and feel relevant to the world around us. When we are constantly learning and cultivating ourselves, opportunities naturally arise.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? An elephant. They are highly emotional, majestic, and have a great memory.
