What is your favorite thing about your job?
I get to wear a lot of different hats; one day I’m a coach helping my team, the next I’m an advisor helping a student navigate a question, and sometimes I’m simply a lifeline for a student who needs someone to listen and help them find a path forward. I love the variety, the challenges, and knowing that the work we do can make a real difference.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about going back to school?
If you’re thinking about going back to school, take the leap. Education is one of the few investments you can make in yourself that no one can ever take away from you. It can open doors, create new opportunities, and give you the confidence to take the next step.
If you could meet any person who would you choose and why?
If I could meet anyone, I’d choose the author Jared Diamond. I really enjoy the way he connects history, geography, and human development. I’d love to hear his perspective on how societies evolve and what he thinks we can learn from history to better understand the world today.
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Easily a breakfast skillet! Eggs, potatoes, cheese, and whatever else you can throw in it. As a matter of fact, I’m craving one right now.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite part is working with students, motivating and coaching them through their educational journey. I was a non-traditional student myself who returned to school in mid-career. This helps me to lead by example.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about going back to school?
The best advice I can do is listen to the student and determine what they value so I can help them with their pathway. That provides the communication base for the student relationship so then the advice will be received.
Why is education important?
Education opens our world to infinite possibilities. Education can be so important to a person’s life trajectory and success as it gives them the ability to see things from a different point of view. One goal in higher education is to provide our communities with skilled individuals.
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Buttered popcorn of course!!!

What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives. I enjoy building relationships with students, listening to their concerns, helping them navigate challenges, and seeing them make progress toward their goals. For me, the most rewarding part is knowing that sometimes one conversation, one resource, or one person believing in a student can make a significant difference in their journey.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by purpose, growth, and the opportunity to help others succeed. I am especially motivated by working with students who may face barriers to achieving their educational goals and helping them recognize their potential. I also challenge myself to continue learning and growing professionally because I believe effective leaders should always be willing to learn, adapt, and improve.
Why is education important?
Education is important because it creates opportunity. It gives people knowledge, confidence, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to make informed decisions about their lives and their communities. Education can open doors that may otherwise remain closed and can help individuals change not only their own circumstances, but also the circumstances of their families and future generations. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools we have for creating opportunity and empowering people to reach their full potential.
If you could meet any person, who would you choose and why?
If I could meet any person, I would choose Denzel Washington. I admire his career, but more importantly, I respect the way he talks about discipline, faith, purpose, education, and personal responsibility. I would want to have a conversation with him about leadership, success, overcoming obstacles, and the importance of using your platform to positively influence others. I think his perspective on life and leadership would be both inspiring and valuable.
