Graduation Specialist

DJ Jackson

What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite part about my job is being able to help students see their full potential and break down any barrier in the way of achieving their goal/dream.

What motivates you? I would have to say my biggest motivation would be my son.

If you could meet any person, who would you choose and why? I would have to choose either John Singleton (Film Maker) or Issa Rae. Both were/are extremely successful and their journeys to achieve massive success is truly inspiring. They did not allow any barriers to stop them!

If you could be any animal what would you be? I would be a Lion because I am the king of my reality and master of my own fate.

Graduation Specialist

Karen Toledo

What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing about my job is interacting with my students and helping them achieve their academic goals.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about going back to school? My biggest piece of advice would be to trust the process! Trust the journey, the challenges, the accomplishments, all of it is a part of the process to succeed.

If you could meet any person who would you choose and why? I would like to meet Michelle Obama and have a meal with her in the house where she grew up in Chicago. I’d ask her about her time at Princeton and Harvard, her time as the First Lady, and for advice on how to become a successful entrepreneur.

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose? I would eat my mom’s homemade empanadas!

Student Support Specialist

Brittany Coppla

What is your favorite thing about your job? I love working directly with our students and advocating for their academic experience, their long-term success, and their personal growth. With many of our students, I get to witness their relationship with school and education shift over time, and I’m deeply grateful to observe how much our students’ confidence in themselves and their own potential increases as they work towards their degrees.

Why is education important? I think that regardless of what field of study people pursue, prioritizing our education sharpens our critical thinking skills and our ability to advocate for ourselves.

If you could meet any person, who would you choose and why? If I could meet anyone, it would be one of my favorite authors, Carson McCullers. She wrote my favorite novel, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and I’m a writer myself, so I would love the opportunity to learn more about her life and her writing practice.

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be? I would gladly eat sushi for the rest of my life. Part of my family is from Japan, so not only do I find Japanese food to be some of the most tasty, but it’s also really nostalgic for me.
