Dr. Luke Schultheis, is the former Executive Vice President for Education at Helms College. He
has over 25 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member, chair, dean and
senior administrator, following an initial career in the hospitality industry.
He has served in a variety of leadership positions impacting student success and
enrollment management at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Michigan State University,
Virginia Commonwealth University and UNLV with demonstrated success in improving
access, retention and graduation rates.
Dr. Schultheis has authored book chapters and journal articles on higher education and
has made over 80 presentations at national conferences as well as served on several
prominent journal editorial review boards.
Schultheis received his Ph.D. in education studies from the University of Nebraska, an
Ed.M and M.A. in higher education administration from Columbia University, an M.S. in
hospitality industry studies: asset management from New York University, a B.S. in
English from the City University of New York Baccalaureate Program and an A.S. from
Johnson & Wales University.
